[RITE OF] PENITENCE I have sinned against the all-holy Trinity: the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I have sinned against God. I confess before God, and the holy Mother of God, and before you, holy father, all the sins that I have committed. For I have sinned in thought, word, and deed, voluntarily and involuntarily, knowingly and unknowingly; I have sinned against God. I have sinned in my soul and its faculties, in my mind and its impulses, in my body and its senses. I have sinned through the faculty of my soul: by craftiness, insolence, audacity, and timidity; by prodigality and stinginess; by debauchery and unrighteousness; by credulity in evil, despair, and faint-heartedness; I have sinned against God. I have sinned through the evil thoughts of my mind: by deceit, hatred, malice, envy, flattery, sloth, [and] lustful thoughts—male, female, bestial, equine, [and] savage.
