"Christ, yesterday and today, the same and forever." [Heb. 13:8] We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ walked upon the earth; after thirty years came to baptism; the Father from above testified: "This is my beloved Son," and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in the likeness of a dove; was tempted by Satan and overcame him; preached salvation to mankind; labored in the body, grew weary, hungered, and thirsted; afterwards came willingly to [His] passions; was crucified and died in the body, and [remained] alive in [His] Divinity; the Body [was] laid in the tomb, united with [His] Divinity; and in the Spirit descended into hell, inseparable from [His] Divinity; preached to the spirits, despoiled hell, and liberated the souls; after three days arose from the dead and appeared to the disciples. We believe that our Lord Jesus Christ, in the very same Body, ascended into heaven and sat at the right hand of the Father. He is also to come in the very same Body and in the glory of the Father to judge the living and the dead; which is also the resurrection of all mankind. We also believe in the recompense of deeds: eternal life for the righteous, and eternal torment for the sinners.
