[It is] a medicine for dispersing swellings, especially if it is caused by the French disease [syphilis]; likewise, it is good for swelling of the testicles (*tsvaner*). *Emplastrum aromaticum*, L[atin]. A prepared firm plaster, which, if you smear [it] upon a cloth and adhere it over the pit of the stomach [epigastrium], is very beneficial for stomach pain; by adhering it upon the belly, it will aid bellyache. *Emplastrum hyoscyami*, L[atin]. A firm plaster, which, if smeared upon a cloth you adhere to a swelling of the testicles, will disperse [it], whether it has occurred from the French (*at’ēshak*) disease or from gonorrhea [literally, seed-dripping]. *Terra catechhu*, L[atin]. It is called *k’ak’li hindi*. It binds the belly [stops diarrhea]; it cuts short the vomiting of blood; for foul breath and for hoarseness of voice [loss of voice], it is beneficial to throw into the mouth and dissolve [suck] half a *mskhal* [of it], pulverized, morning and evening. *Indigo*, L[atin]. In Armenian, *leghak*. Three *mskhal*s of this [and] 15 *mskhal*s of ox tallow they should melt together, smear [it] lukewarm, [and] apply upon the red wind [erysipelas] three times a day; it is beneficial. *Lichen islandicum*, L[atin]. This herb is very beneficial for an old [chronic] cough and for one who spits blood; morning and evening, boil four *mskhal*s each [time] with milk and drink [it]. *Linimentum volatilis camphorata*, L[atin]. A prepared medicine for pain and prickling [stitches] in the arms and legs; rub [it] three times a day. *Chininum sulfuricum*, L[atin]. Salt of gentian [darnich], commonly salt of cinchona [*k’inak’ini*]; it is an exquisite medicine for every kind of ague [shivering fever]. Take half a *mskhal* of this, two *mskhal*s of sugar, mix together, pulverize well into fifteen portions; give one portion to drink with water every two hours, during the time free from ague and fever. *Cubeba*, L[atin]. *Goyi buak*, A[rmenian].
