Number 96:

Take three *msxal*s of alum, dissolve [it] in ten cups (*p‘nǰan*) of water, and use [it] in such manner as is stated in its [proper] place; or take one glass of rose water, mix into it one teaspoon of vinegar of lead (see number 102), and use [it] in such manner as is stated.

Number 101:

Take ten drops of spirit of Lokhman [Hoffmann's drops], with sugar or with water, [and] give [it] at the time of constriction of the heart [i.e., palpitations/angina] or at the time when the head spins.

Number 100:

Take three *msxal*s of alum, dissolve [it] in ten cups (*p‘nǰan*) of water, and use [it] in such manner as is stated in its [proper] place; or take one glass of rose water, mix into it one teaspoon of vinegar of lead (see number 102), and use [it] in such manner as is stated.

Number 101:

Take the whites of two newly laid eggs, put [them] in a clean vessel, and mix in so much alum until it is thoroughly curdled [and combined]; then spread [it] upon a linen cloth and apply it to the eyes, as is directed in its proper place.

Number 100:

Take purified and pounded saltpetre, one *miskhal*; white tartar [salt of wine] and saltpetre earth, two *miskhal*s each; sugar, one *miskhal*. Mix together, grind fine, and administer one small teaspoon of this medicine, twice a day, until the redness of the eyes recedes.

Number 101:

Take ten drops of Hoffmann's drops [*spiritus Hoffmanni*], [and] administer [it] with sugar or water at the time of constriction of the heart [or anxiety/palpitations], or at the time when the head spins [i.e., dizziness].

NUMBER 102.

Take vinegar of lead from the apothecary, [and] use [it] as has been directed—or prepare [it] at home in this manner: Take half a *grvank’ay* of sugar of lead [and] one-quarter *grvank’ay* of litharge of lead, grind [them] together, [and] make a fine powder; put [it] into a bottle and pour over it sixteen *mskhal*s less than two *grvank’ay*s of distilled water (just as they distill *aragh*, in the same manner distill water from water), and you must shake [it] frequently until the sediment settled at the bottom becomes of a yellowish-red color; then let it stand for one day so that it may clear; pour the clear water from the surface into a bottle, [and] the se[diment at the bottom...]
