ժամանակը երկիւղալի է և մինչև անգամ` մահ է պատճառում, մանաւանդ՝ երբ տաքութիւնը երկար է քաշում` : Հիւանդի ե- րեսահարքը և բուկը ուռչում է, շունչ քաշելը շատ ծան- րանում է. Հիւանդն ինքն իրան խօսում է և դուրս Հանում` ուռած լեզուն, բերանիցը շոլինքը է գնում` և շփոթուում է. խօ- սելը դժուարանում է, ձէնը փոխուում, և բարականում. մաջէն գցում է շտապով և թոյլ: Էսպէս նեղացած ժամանակը պէտք է շուտ արիւն թողնեն կռնիցը կամ` շլնքին կպցնեն կօտօշ, կամ` եթէ կարողանան գտանել տզրուկ, տասը Հատ, Հիւան- դի դրութեանը մտիկ տալով, և յետոյ դնեն բկի վրէն թթու խմոր մանանեխով շաղախած, ինչպէս գրած է 36 յօդուածու- մը : Օրը չորս անգամ` պէտք է գրեխ (Հոգնայ) տան (տե՛ս Հա- մար. 20, կամ` 31.) և էլ առնեն 26 Համարում` նշանակած ծաղկունքն, վրէն կէծ ջուր ածեն և բուղ տան քնթումը. ժա- մանակ առ ժամանակ էլ բերանումը գուբ անել և ողողել տան կաթնով, կամ` մեղրը խառնած գոլ ջրով, կամ` 27, կամ` 28, Համարում` գրուած դեղով : 51. Եթէ երեք, կամ` չորս օրից յետոյ մաջէն գցէ զօրեղ, բայց միօրինակ և ծանր, մարմնոյ տաքութիւնը և բկի ցաւը քչանայ, և էն տեղի երակը, ինչ տեղ որ Հիւանդը բկումը ցաւ էր զգում, գցում է մաջի երակի նման, էն ժամանա'լը պէտք է գուշակենք, թէ նշան է, որ էն տեղը թարախ պիտի դնէ,

[This] time is perilous and even causeth death, especially when the fever lasteth long. The patient’s countenance and throat swell up, and breathing becometh exceedingly heavy. The patient talketh to himself and sticketh out [his] swollen tongue; slobber runneth from [his] mouth and he becometh confused; speech becometh difficult, [his] voice altereth and groweth thin; [his] pulse beateth hurried and weak. In such sore distress, blood must quickly be let from the arm, or cupping-glasses applied to the nape of the neck, or, if leeches can be found, ten pieces [thereof], according to the patient’s condition; and thereafter let sourdough kneaded with mustard be placed upon the throat, as is written in Article 36. Four times a day an enema must be given (see Number 20, or 31), and likewise let them take the flowers designated in Number 26, pour boiling water thereon, and let the steam be inhaled into the nostrils. From time to time, let them also cause [him] to hold in the mouth and gargle with milk, or with lukewarm water mixed with honey, or with the medicine written in Number 27, or 28.
51. If the inflammation of the throat be not so severe, and the patient be able to open [his] mouth and swallow food and drink without great difficulty, then let them examine the inside of the throat. If upon the uvula, or upon the right or left side thereof, it be swollen or reddened, paineth, and hindereth swallowing, let the patient frequently hold in the mouth and gargle with the medicine designated in Number 27, or 28, and let him partake of food according to what is written in Article 27; twice a day let him steep [his] feet up to the knees in hot water for about half an hour. If after employing these means the signs of the disease do not vanish within twenty-four hours, let blood from the arm and place upon the throat sourdough kneaded with mustard; see Number 95.
52. If after three or four days the pulse beateth strong, yet uniform and heavy, the fever of the body and the pain in the throat diminish, and the vessel in that spot where the patient felt pain in the throat throbeth like the pulse of the wrist, then must we conjecture that it is a sign that pus is about to form in that place,
