Art. 50. The Board of Trustees for Testaments shall consist of seven persons, of whom three [shall be] ecclesiastics and four laymen, elected by the Mixed Assembly by a plurality of votes. The office of the Board of Trustees for Testaments is the administration of national testaments. Its obligation is to supervise the execution of testaments in a lawful manner and in conformity with the purpose and intention of the testator. The special regulation required for the Board of Trustees for Testaments shall be prepared by the Mixed Assembly [with the consultation of] the Board of Trustees for Testaments and the Economic Council... [...in its total]ity, and consisteth of the aid to be granted unto the needy Church congregations, together with other miscellaneous expenses that may occur. The aforesaid Directors, through the agency of the Commission of Establishments and with the approval of the Civil Council (*Meclis-i Cismani*), shall collect all the aforementioned revenues and settle the aforementioned expenses; and, keeping the accounts of the National Treasury (*Millet Sandığı*)—the administration whereof is entrusted unto them—according to the new method, they shall present a copy of its ledger at the appointed times unto the Commission of Establishments. After this ledger hath been inspected and approved in the said Commission, it shall be presented unto the Civil Council.

6. BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR WILLS

Art. 50. The Board of Trustees of Wills consists of seven persons, three of whom [shall be] ecclesiastics and four laymen, elected by the Mixed Assembly by a majority of votes. The office of the Board of Trustees of Wills is the administration of national testaments. Its obligation is to supervise the execution of wills in a lawful manner and in accordance with the purpose and intention of the testator. The Mixed Assembly shall prepare the special regulations required for the Board of Trustees of Wills [in conjunction with] the Board of Trustees of Wills and the Economic Council... ...and consists of the subsidies to be granted to needy church congregations, together with other miscellaneous expenses that may arise. The said directors, through the agency of the Establishment Commission and with the approval of the Civil Council, shall collect all the aforementioned revenues and settle the aforementioned expenses; and, keeping the accounts of the National Chest—the administration of which is entrusted to them—according to modern methods, they shall present a copy of its ledger at designated times to the Establishment Commission. After this ledger has been examined and verified in the said Commission, it shall be submitted to the Civil Council.

CONCERNING THE COMMISSION FOR THE ADMINISTRATION OF TESTAMENTS.

Article 50. The Directors of Wills [Vasiyet Müdirleri] shall be composed of seven persons, three being of the clergy and four of the laity, all of whom shall be elected by a majority of votes in the Mixed Council [Meclis-i Muhtelit]. The official duty of the aforesaid directors consists of administering the bequests made to the Nation [Millet], and ensuring that the terms contained therein are executed in a lawful manner and in conformity with the intention and purpose of the testator. The special instructions required concerning the administration of wills, having obtained the opinion of the aforesaid directors and of the Commission of Establishments [Te'sîsât Komisyonu], [shall be determined] by the Mixed Council...
