And elsewhere: "Who, when he was come thither, helped them much which had believed through grace: for he mightily convinced the Jews, [and that] publicly, shewing by the Scriptures that Jesus was Christ" (Acts 2:35; 17:10, 11; 18:27). And furthermore, the Apostle Pōghos writeth with this word unto Timot‘ēos, his beloved disciple: "But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned [them]; and that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus. All Scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: that the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works" (2 Tim. 3:13–17). Lest perchance those who introduce differences into our all-pious Christian religion and publish [them] in writing have fancied in their deluded minds the disciples in the academy of Pghaton and Aristotēl, and the disciples in the school of Homēros, among whom differences of teachings were assuredly to be found; for the Platonists and Aristotelians studied natural sciences, whereas the Homerists studied metrical wisdom; whence also they differed from one another in the concepts of [their] disciplines. But those nurtured in the school of the true Christian religion—good Christians who, by orthodox confession and living faith, remain unerring—never at all admit, nor do they know how to fabricate, differences, diversities, and alterations in religion and in the doctrines of faith; because those discipled in the Evangelical and Apostolical teachings and the sound doctrine of the holy ancient Fathers stand firm in one faith, without turning to the right hand or to the left, according to the testimony of the blessed Apostle Pōghos: "If ye continue in the faith grounded and settled, and [be] not moved away from the hope of the Gospel, which ye have heard, [and] which was preached to every creature which is under heaven; whereof I Pōghos am made a minister" (Col. 1:23).
