Now let us proceed here to the first examination of the mind-confusing and agitating, indifferent and ridiculous words of the Author of this writing, who says: “But our orthodox religion differs in this from that of the Ēǰmiatsnakan Armenians.” See thou, O reasonable and beloved reader, that the Author of this writing and the signatories call themselves merely *Lusaworč‘akan Armenians*, which is to say: followers of our holy Father Grigor Lusaworič‘, and receivers of his reasonable and soul-profiting doctrine; yet they are found to have departed exceedingly far from his spirit-illuminated doctrine, which he preached clearly and in exact accordance with the Holy Scriptures:
“Unity of faith and holy conduct,” he says, “is the fountain of knowledge, from which is distributed unsparingly that which giveth unto each one the weapons of martyrdom. . . . Unity of faith and holy conduct, mingled with the grace of the Creator and the remembrance of His holy deeds, holdeth all the members undivided at the gates of the mercy of His love, for the sake of all good things that are in creation. And through this same gate enter the gifts of unity, which delivereth and magnifieth; and by their unity do the members receive help from one another unto edification according to each one’s order. And whosoever is torn away from unity and from holy conduct, not only becometh an outcast from those beatitudes, but is also delivered unto punishment, and, like a member severed from the body, becometh useless, or like a branch from the tree is cast into the fire” (*Yačaxapatum Čaṙk‘*, Discourse XI).
Let them indeed compare, by reasonable examination and in conscience of mind, the spirit-breathing words of the truth-proclaiming doctrine of our holy Father Grigor Lusaworič‘ with the mind-deceiving words of those calling [themselves] *Lusaworč‘akan Armenians*, who by this word deny and reject the Lusaworč‘ian counsels and doctrines, writing thus: “But our orthodox religion differs in this from that of the Ēǰ[miatsnakan Armenians]...”
