Truthfulness is the agreement of the heart and the tongue; hence, he is called truthful whose mouth speaketh the very same thing that is in his heart. And this virtue is exceedingly necessary in all the conduct of a man’s life, whereby he becometh beloved of every man in every place: First, because everyone believeth that which a truthful man hath spoken, entertaining neither doubt nor suspicion.
