[...], and does that which is profitable both to oneself and to [one's] neighbor. And this striving for virtue or fortitude, which is the foundation ([*temel*]) of all good works, we are continually commanded, counseled, and exhorted to put unhindered into practice by the Gospel of Christ, the holy apostles, the prophets, the Church of God, the holy doctors [of the Church], and the moral philosophers; so that we may correct our morals and conduct, keep far from all improper, evil, and harmful words and deeds, and speak and do that which is proper, good, and profitable. Such virtues are many, but for the sake of brevity we have here anthologized a few of them, which are necessary and useful not only for schoolchildren, but for adults as well.
