[...they] forgive [one another]; for it is contrary to divine laws and to nature that own brothers should hate and reject one another. 4. They must be willing and strive to dwell together in one house, and not separate from one another's house for trivial and vain reasons. For thereby not only doth fraternal love diminish, but also their expenses needlessly multiply; and this is no small harm, which at times causeth even ruin of the household and destruction, as our Lord saith: "Every city or house divided against itself shall not stand" (Matt. 12:25). Therefore, dwelling in one house is exceedingly profitable and good, as the prophet Dawitʻ saith: "Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity!" (Ps. 132 [133:1]). The manner of conducting oneself with a brother teacheth us the way of conducting oneself with a kinsman; wherefore it is necessary that they be loving, helpful, and forgiving toward one another.
